Today, I’m going to introduce you my the most impressed place in my every bike packing, Rebun Island.
Rebun Island is a really small island in Hokkaido, the northern part of Japan. Rebun island is about 1500 km (970 miles) to the north from Tokyo.
Place to visit in Rebun Island
Rebun Island is the best place to trekking. You can see beautiful ocean and cute flowers peculiar in Rebun Island.
1. Sky cape
Sky cape is famous for the most beautiful color of the sea. You can go close to Sky cape by bicycle then you have to walk about 5 minutes to see this view. The road to go to Sky cape is organized so you don’t need to be prepared for trekking.

2. Gorota cape
Gorota cape has also great view. Since there are no paved road to go to Gorota cape, you have to park your bike at the entrance of trekking road to Gorota cape.

3. Cape Sukoton
Cape Sukoton is the northan tip of Rebun Island. You can see Sakhalin if the weather is good. There is a tiny guest house at Cape Sukoton. Also, there is a souvenir shop and they sell local specialties. We ate fish sandwich. The fish is between two seaweeds, and it was so good!

Best way to visit Rebun Isalnd
There are two ways to go to Rebun Island, one is by plane and another is by ferry. I recommend to visit there by ferry because the ferry port in Hokkaido to go to Rebun Island is in Wakkanai city and there are so good place to see.
I will introduce Wakkanai city soon in another post.
Foods in Rebun Island
Rebun island is famous for seafoods, especially, sea urchin eggs (in Japanese, “uni”). Its appearance is not good, but the taste is so good! There are some restaurants in Rebun Island but my recommendation is “Osyokuji-dokoro Atoi” (This means “restaurant Atoi”). You can eat rice bowl topped with seafood. They serve miso-soup as well. This restaurant is located at northern tip of Rebun Island. The name of the cape is “Kanedano-misaki” (“misaki” means cape). You can see a great sunset at Kanedano-misaki.

Camping in Rebun island
Rebun Island has two camp site. I recommend to stay in Kusyu-kohan Camping Ground. The night logging cost is about $6. This camp ground is located by the lake so the view is so good.
We bought big salmon at the local supermarket and baked with foil. The salmon was the best salmon in my life!!

Today, I introduced Rebun Island, which is my most favorite place in Japan. It’s far from Tokyo so maybe it’s difficult to go for foreign tourist, but you can feel the vibe of peaceful rural area in Japan and delicious seafoods (It’s way better than sushi in Tokyo because the freshness is totally different).
Thank you for reading! I would appreciate if you correct my English mistake. I’m international student from Japan and I’m in graduate school in a university in US.
